Épico. A mí me lo parece. Y gracias a canciones así poder ser consciente de todo lo que hay detrás de una gran canción. Que el compositor la empiece a tararear en su mente antes de tocar los primeros acordes, que la comparta y mejore con sus compañeros de banda y productores y, en este caso, que se junten con decenas de músicos para darle cientos de detalles extra. Al ver el videoclip de hoy he recordado esa sensación que tenía cuando escuchaba una canción una y otra vez y podía ir descubriendo a los instrumentos presentándose.
No sólo eso. Todos los años y esfuerzos que han dedicado los músicos que vemos en ese video para poder llegar a tocar en una gran orquesta tiene mucho mérito. Muchos tendréis algún conocido que haya estudiado música y tenga la suerte de haberlo convertido en su profesión, entonces sabréis de qué hablo. Posiblemente no volvamos a escuchar a la mayoría de los que han participado en ese tema de hoy, pero, al menos yo, respetaré aún más -si cabe- esa profesión.

Calexico http://www.casadecalexico.com/ es agradable de escuchar, os recomiendo cualquier álbum. Cuando puedo los voy escuchando enteros, no lo había hecho antes . “Music Box” es quizá la canción que más me gusta. La primera que escuché de ellos fue “Güero Canelo”, la podéis oír en la (muy buena) película “Collateral” aunque mejor que la veáis sin niños. La película está ambientada en Los Ángeles, pero de esos se ven pocos.
De California toma parte de su nombre este grupo que protagoniza el videoclip de hoy, al incorporar influencias musicales del suroeste de Estados Unidos y del Norte de México. California y México, Calexico. Fácil y sencillo. Me he ido un poco más arriba en el mapa después de mencionar ayer a nuestra amiga mexicana, ya pondré a Chavela Vargas en otra ocasión.
Algo de lo que dice Calexico en Epic debe tener que ver con eso de tocar música y con ello hacer felices a los demás:

Magnificent. I think it is. And thanks to songs like that, we can be aware of everything behind a great song. The composer humming it in his mind before playing the first chords, sharing and improving the song with his bandmates and producers and, in this case, playing it with dozens of musicians in order to provide hundreds of extra details. Seeing today’s music video, I remembered that feeling I was having when I listened to a song over and over again and could discover the instruments going in and out.
Not only that. The musicians like the ones we can see in that video spent a lot of time doing big efforts to be accepted to play in a orchestra, this is something worthy of merit. I guess you know someone who studied music and is lucky to have made it their profession, so you know what I am talking about. We will probably not listen again to most of the musicians who have participated in this video we will see today, but, at least, I will respect even more -if possible- their profession.

Calexico http://www.casadecalexico.com/ is pleasant to listen to. I am trying to listen all of their albums and I recommend you all of them. «Music Box» is perhaps the song that I like the most, although the first one I heard from them was «Güero Canelo». You can hear ”Guero Canelo” in the (very good) movie «Collateral» but you better watch it without your kids around. The film is set in Los Angeles, even though few ‘Angels” are on it.
They are taking part of their name from California, as Calexico is the name of a small city on the United States – Mexico border and their music has something from that region. California and Mexico, Calexico. Easy and simple. I went North on the map after mentioning our Mexican friend yesterday, I will talk about Chavela Vargas on another occasion.
In my opinion, something Calexico is saying in Epic has something to do with that feeling of playing music and, as a consequence, making others happy:
